Nothing is made before it is ordered. Each piece takes about seven weeks, and you can follow it from the timber rack to the crate.

How a Tegalsari chair comes to exist

Teak / Grade A
Selected from kiln-dried timber, at 8–12% moisture. We buy plantation teak from two yards in East Java that supply origin papers with every load.
Small variations in grain and tone are expected. Two boards from the same log will not match exactly.

Three people make every Tegalsari chair. Each signs the underside in pencil when their part is done.
Seven weeks, give or take.
Timber is rough-cut and left to settle for three days before it is planed. Joints are cut and dry-fitted before anything is glued. Oil goes on in three coats, a day apart.

- 01You choose the wood, linen and finish. We tell you how long that combination takes.
- 02We check the timber rack and confirm within two working days. Then you pay half.
- 03Your piece is given a job number and a bench. The number is chalked on your boards.
- 04You pay the rest after final inspection, before it leaves the workshop.
